A northern suburb of Fort Worth, White Settlement’s name originated as a result of its long history. When it was first settled, there were two settlements in the area: one occupied predominantly by Native Americans (near where Fort Worth is located today), and the other one being occupied by white settlers. The annual White Settlement Chicken Dance Festival is a long standing city tradition. The City of White Settlement is served by the White Settlement Independent School District. WSISD includes four elementary campuses, an intermediate school, a middle school, a high school, an alternative campus and a new Fine Arts Academy. Two WSISD schools are Exemplary campuses, and three are Recognized schools
